Abstract

The article is about the news programmes of the Faroese, Danish and Greenlandic TV-stations, all run by public funds, viz. Dagur og vika, TV-avisen, TV2-nyhederne and Qanorooq. It is demonstrated that overseas news is treated in different ways by the stations, and that the amount of overseas news that has no connection with local affairs or Iocal discourse, increases with the distance for the capital of the kingdom. Also is demonstrated that the attitude to foreign issues is reflected in the way the material is edited and presented.
