Abstract
The present article deals with the measurement of lakes in the Faroe Isles.
By way of introduction reference is made to the few geographical contributions to studies of lakes in the Faroe Isles. For the morphological research of the lakes Fjallavatn, Leynavatn, Stóravatn, Heygsvatn, and Vatnið á Mølini described ín the present article the echo sounding equipment Seafarer 3 (149 khz) was mostly used. A neon indicator marked out the depth on a calibrated centre dial. The boat used was a Pioner 7 (weight 35 kilos). The measurements are shown in t.ables (1.—5. talva). The routes are drawn with dashes on the maps of the lake (1.—5. mynd).
