Abstract
Úrtak
í greinini diskuterar høvundurin bygdarnavnið Akrar. Hann tekur í princippinum undir við eini tolking sum fyrr er sett fram: at navnið ikki inniheldur navnorðið akur m., men tað fornnorrøna navnorðið pgr n. 'lítil vík'. Høvundurin setur fram nýggjar málsligar og sakligar grundgevingar fyri hesi tolking. Niðurstøðan er at rættari hevði verið at stavað navnið Agrar.
Abstract
ln this article the author discusses the village name Akrar. In principle he accepts an earlier interpretation, which sees the name as deriving not from akur 'cornfield', but Old Norse Qgr 'small bay'. The author adduces fresh linguistic and topographical evidence in support of this interpretation. He concludes that a more appropriate spelling of the name would be Agrar.
