Abstract
In 1805 the German mineral dealer, Karl Ludwig Giesecke, whose name is inseparably tied to the scientific history of Greenland and who in 1813 became Professor of Mineralogy in Dublin, visited the Faeroe Islands in order to collect minerals and make geological observations. His report of the journey is unfortunately later lost, but papers in the Danish Record Office throw
light on his travelling routes from island to island and on the conditions offered to him during his stay.
