Abstract
An account is given of a 63 year old man suffering from cholesterol pleurisy. Total lipoid in the pleural effusion 2380 mg. %, total cholesterol 1160 mg. %. At the age of 24 the patient was in bed for six months with fluid on the left lung — without doubt from tuberculous pleurisy. From time to time over the past few years this rare complaint has been discussed in Scandinavian medical literature chiefly by Finnish writers. This condition is probably due to an abnormal familiar cholesterolmetabolism.
